Works
Suki Suki Daisuki is a music video inspired by Jun Togawa’s song of the same name. I directed and performed in the piece, interpreting the lyrics’ obsessive longing and the impulse to destroy what cannot be possessed. Using After Effects and green screen compositing, I blended live-action footage with surreal, liminal spaces to evoke the aesthetic of early-2000s music videos.
The Rabbit is a short visual piece inspired by a Chinese nursery rhyme, “Little Bunny, Open the Door.” It tells the story of a lonely girl who imagines a rabbit companion to act out domestic rituals and games, blurring the line between fantasy and reality.
The Pilgrims is an experimental short film shot on 16mm color film. It follows a tyrannical lord who controls a group of followers, forcing them to drink a potion of obedience and worship him through ritualistic dance. One follower, after a bloody transformation, rises against the order and climbs the steps to crown himself the new ruler. The film explores themes of power, control, and rebellion through symbolic, dreamlike imagery.
Eww...A Spider is a stop-motion animation experiment that uses cut-out photographs of human body parts to create paper puppets. Built around finger imagery and layered with sound design, the piece simulates a spider's evolution and hunting process inside a silk cave.
The Red Room is a digital animation created with After Effects, combining collage elements of dolls and traditional Chinese motifs. The piece constructs an uncanny interior that explores the intersection of childhood imagery and cultural symbolism. As someone who had a fear of dolls growing up—their unblinking eyes always made me uneasy—I incorporated that discomfort into the visual language of the work.
Thief, House Owner and Police is my very first attempt at live-action filmmaking using a high-quality camera. Created as a class exercise around the theme of "searching," the project required telling three different stories using the same location and actors. Through styling, lighting, camera movement, and sound design, I crafted three playful narratives:
A thief breaks into a home and searches for valuables but leaves empty-handed—unaware the money has accidentally stuck to his back; The homeowner returns from a party to find the place ransacked and calls the police; The police officer arrives to assess the scene, finds no clear trace of the thief, and smokes by the window—unaware the thief is hiding just below.
